Hi everyone,
This piece is called “Manggurru”, which means Kangaroo in my Ngarluma language.
The kangaroo is a strong and proud animal that moves across Country with purpose. For me, Manggurru represents family, movement, and connection — always grounded, but never still. It reminds me that no matter where we travel, we carry our stories, culture, and Country with us.
When I painted this piece, I wanted to show the beauty of Ngarluma Country — the red earth, the tracks across the land, and the spirit that ties everything together. Each colour and line tells a story of strength and belonging.
Artist’s Reflection:
I paint to share the stories and spirit of my Country through my eyes. Manggurru is a reminder that we’re all connected — people, animals, and the land. Every piece I paint comes from the heart and from home.
