“I built Cora-Larni to work for myself, to create opportunities for my family and community, and to have the time and freedom to be present with my children and grandchildren.”
“I chose to work for myself so I could create freedom, opportunity, and a future on my own terms.”
Meet the Artist
Mellie-Jane is a proud Ngarluma and Wongi woman, and the artist behind Cora-Larni Enterprise.
Born and raised with a deep connection to Country in the Pilbara–Goldfields region of Western Australia, her work is grounded in culture, family, and lived experience. Every piece she creates reflects the stories, colours, and spirit of the land she comes from.
Mellie-Jane’s journey into business began with a simple goal — to create a life built on freedom, flexibility, and purpose. What started with sewing has grown into a thriving Aboriginal-owned business that now brings together art, design, language resources, cultural consultancy, community engagement, and event coordination.
Cora-Larni Enterprise is named after her granddaughters, Cora and Melarni — representing the next generation and the importance of passing down knowledge, creativity, and culture.
Her work is more than design — it’s storytelling.
Through each piece, Mellie-Jane shares stories of identity, strength, healing, and belonging. Her art is created with respect, intention, and a strong cultural foundation, continuing the tradition of storytelling through Aboriginal art.
Beyond her creative work, Mellie-Jane is deeply committed to working with community — creating spaces for connection, supporting cultural events, and helping bring people together through meaningful engagement and well-run events.
She is driven by a vision to create opportunities for her family and community, using her business as a platform to build something lasting for future generations.
Every piece has meaning. Every design tells a story.
